Umbrella Alley Art Installation

‘Umbrella Alley’ Art Installation

The narrow passageway between La Fontana and The Fat Fish has never been much of a destination. Now, however, the alley is attracting footfall from all over the village thanks to a colourful umbrella installation.

Why were they installed?

The idea for ‘Umbrella Alley’ came from our Twyford in Bloom team. Each year, volunteers from Twyford Parish Council and Twyford Together look for ways to improve our environment. The umbrellas first went up in 2020 and have since become an annual fixture. But this isn’t the only art installation in the village. Thanks to the children from our local schools, Tesco Alley has also benefitted from a creative facelift.

Who was involved?

Benedict Charles Financial Planning sponsored the art installation and Harry at Steel Makers Ltd of Station Road installed the umbrellas.

What’s the verdict?

What’s unusual about the umbrellas in our pic?

Eagle-eyed visitors to this page will notice that the umbrellas are inside out! Unfortunately, April’s stormy weather took it’s toll on the installation. We’ll be rectifying this very shortly!

Walked down here this morning and it put a massive smile on my face. Thank you!
