Conservation Area Leaflets

What was the purpose?

In 2013 two leaflets describing Twyford’s conservation areas were produced jointly by Twyford Together and Wokingham Borough Council with additional help from the Twyford & Ruscombe Local History Society

Twyford Conservation Area was designated in 1977 and is focused around the original Old Bath Road; Twyford Station Conservation Area was designated in 1996 and covers the Victorian era of development associated with the arrival of the Great Western Railway.

The leaflets explain the special architectural or historic interest that led to these important designations and the additional responsibilities placed on residents and businesses including the sort of works for which permission is required.

The appropriate leaflet has been delivered to every home and business within the two Conservation Areas and contains a map showing the boundaries of these two areas and all the listed buildings.
