Twyford Together has put together a list of local organisations (including Twyford Together) which are actively seeking volunteers. We would like to encourage people to lend a helping hand by raising awareness of what’s out there. If any of the events, causes or schemes listed below appeal to you, please get in touch with the organisations via their websites.

Adopt a Street
Twyford Together has a team of volunteers who regularly keep their road, group of streets or local footpath free from rubbish. Enquire about signing up for your local area and you could be equipped with your very own litter picker and special Adopt a Street green litter sacks.
 
Age Concern Twyford & District
Charity helping elderly residents in the area to maintain their independence and quality of life. Volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen during meal times (Monday to Friday)and to taxi people to and from the centre in the morning and afternoon. Please get in touch if you have two hours to spareon any given day for either of these positions.
                 
ARC Youth Counselling
Charity offering professional counselling and guidance to people living with mental health issues. Volunteers are needed from time to time to help with fundraising. 
 
Building for the Future
Charity founded in 2007 by a group of parents with disabled children. Always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events, activities and running sessions in the borough’s only community centre for disabled children.    
 
Camp Mohawk
A multi-functional day centre for children with special needs, set in beautiful countryside just outside Wargrave. Volunteers needed to maintain the raised flower beds and sensory garden.
 
Charity Shops
There are two charity shops in Twyford: Age Concern in London Road and Mercy in Action in Wargrave Road. Pop in during opening hours for a chat and to find out how you can help.
 
The Colleton Primary School
The Colleton primary school are looking for residents in the local community to join their Governing Body - particularly those with the skills/knowledge to sit on the Site and Buildings Committee and/or PR Committee. All skills will however be fully utilised. The Colleton Primary is a school for 4-11 year olds in Twyford and has 380 pupils. Governors have an important part to play in raising school standards by providing strategic leadership, support and accountability in schools. Daisy's Dream
A charity supporting children and their families affected by life-threatening illness and bereavement. Based in Twyford butserving a wide area. Volunteers needed to help with fundraising. 
 
Involve Community Navigators
Community Navigators are local volunteers, based at Twyford surgery, who help people find their way to activities, services ororganisations which they would enjoy, find useful or benefit from within the local community. 
 
The Link Visiting Scheme
A befriending service for elderly people in Wokingham borough. People who need some social interaction People who need some social interaction are matched to trained volunteers who are friendly and DBS approved.
 
Me2 Club 
Charity enabling children and young people with additional needs and disabilities to take part in mainstream activities accompanied by trained volunteers on a 1:1 basis.
 
Over 60s Club
Social group for older people in St. Mary’s Church Centre. The church can pass on details of potential volunteers prepared to help with fundraising, social events and outings.
 
Polehampton Swimming Association
The Polehampton Swimming Association maintains the swimming pool at Polehampton Junior School for the benefit of the local community as well as the school. Volunteers are needed to supervise sessions at the pool, to maintain the grounds and to undertake basic administrative tasks.

Ruscombe Parish Council
Parish Council closely connected with Twyford. Needs volunteers either as council members or to help with activities.
 
South Central Ambulance Service Community First Responders
The people first on the scene in the event of a medical emergency. Volunteers receive full training to enable them to assist until the ambulance service arrives.
 
Twyford Beavers, Cubs and Scouts
1st Twyford Scout Group is made up of 180 young people and leaders. Children and adult members participate in a wide array of fun, team building activities. The group is always looking for adults who are prepared to help with a view to becoming a leader.
 
Twyford Comets
Provides a safe and friendly footballing environment to the local community. They field up to 20 teams most weekends playing in various local leagues, from U7s all the way up through the junior age groups to adult football. Volunteers needed at weekends to help with matches at
King George’s Field or Stanlake Meadow.
 
Twyford District Youth and Community Centre
Provides a safe place for young people to come for recreational activities, computer access, fitness, education, counselling and advice from trained professionals. Many volunteering opportunities are available for people who can offer different levels of commitment and with varying
skill sets.
 
Twyford Parish Council
Apart from serving on the council, volunteers are needed to help at the Twyford Village Fete in August and with the Twyford Neighbourhood Plan (see below).
 
Twyford Neighbourhood Plan
Twyford Parish Council is looking for project managers/planners, planning/legal experts, researchers, interviewers, publicists, graphic designers and copywriters to volunteer for this project which will help shape Twyford’s future.
 
Twyford Rainbows, Brownies and Guides
Empowers girls aged 5-18 from Twyford, and Charvil, Hurst and Sonning to be their best and face challenges through adventure, friendship and fun. From climbing to campfires, trips to treasure hunts, singing to sleepovers, badges to baking, arts and crafts and much more. Always on the lookout for volunteers to help in whatever way they can.
 
Twyford Toddlers
Twyford Toddlers runs play sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings at Twyford Youth Centre. Volunteers are needed to help set up (from 9am), supervise, prepare refreshments for parents and children and pack away at 11.30am. 
 
Twyford Together
Would you like to make a difference? Then join us at Twyford Together. We always welcome new volunteers to bring fresh ideas and help with our community events, projects and fundraising activities.
 
Twyford Together Gardening
Gardening activities have expanded greatly since the work to provide an insect friendly area at Jubilee Corner was completed. Our sites include Polehampton Corner, Twyford library, Stanlake planter, planter at Bell Corner and the Millenium flowerbed/border in the Parish burial ground at St Mary’s church. We urgently need more volunteers to help maintain these areas in our village. 
 
Twyford, Wargrave & District Volunteer Centre
Volunteer drivers are required to transport elderly residents to medical appointments at local GP surgeries and hospitals.
